Colonizing Concepts of Waste
Lecture by Hird, Myra, Wilkes, James
Dr. Myra J. Hird and James Wilkes (School of Environmental Studies, Queen’s University, Canada) are working together to investigate Eurocentric ideologies and legacies of mining waste in Northern Canada. Their presentation will focus on the colonial assumptions and neglect at the root of waste production, as well as the erasure of land, sovereignty, and Indigenous customary laws by settler colonial governments and global corporate pressures.
